Waipoua Kauri Forest

Te Matua Ngahere

The oldest kauri of New Zealand: Te Matua Ngahere, the Father of the Forest. With a height of 29,9 m it's the second largest kauri. Not as high as Tane Mahuta, but with a trunk girth of 16,41 m it seems more powerful – almost like a wall, when you stand in front of it. With this size and an estimated age of 2000 years this wonderful tree tells us something about time.
